There’s always debates about whether or not NCAA athletes should be paid. There are many pros and cons that factor in this debate. Many people say this should not even be a discussion because most athletes that are considered deserving of money are usually on some type of scholarship whether it is athletic, academic, and a mix of multiple different ones. Some say free education is enough in exchange for playing a sport.

Most people do not realize that playing a sport is more than just your competition. It truly takes a toll on your body and some people do not notice what it takes to get into that point. Some people come from different backgrounds and families are not made of money so those athletes who are in that situation could probably benefit from that.

A couple  pros of athletes being paid can provide a healthier lifestyle because they do not have to rely on just the school’s nutrition and can search from themselves. It can take weight off of the shoulders of families because as stated before not everyone’s family comes from wealth.

A couple cons of athletes being paid can eliminate the line of amateur competition and professional in terms of money obviously, but then again not everyone can become a professional athlete so at the end of the day it is hard either way. It could prioritize athletics over academics.
